We’ve had some amazing and intense Pokémon battles today! Players and spectators came from all over the globe to take in the exciting action. Hundreds of competitors played hard for the coveted Top 8 Pokémon TCG and Top 4 video game spots in each age division to gain entrance into the 2012 Pokémon World Championships.
Many of the strategies we saw at the National Championships continued to be strong in both the Pokémon TCG and video game competitions. But we’ve also seen some pretty surprising things as well.
In Pokémon TCG, the fathers of 2010 World Championship Finalists Shota Yamamoto and Santa Ito squared off, with the elder of Yamamoto winning just as his son did here two years ago.
Also, veteran Pokémon player Brendan Zheng conceded a guaranteed spot in the Pokémon TCG World Championships to compete in the Video Game Last Chance Qualifier...and qualified there, too!
And we’ve seen entire families of Pokémon players and siblings settling a friendly rivalry with a Pokémon battle. And this is just Day 1!
We’re already excited for what Day 2 has in store. Be sure to follow all the action at here at the official Pokémon World Championships website!
