Compared to the Pokémon TCG Championships, the Pokémon Video Game Championships is a relative newcomer to Pokémon competitions. Yet, in only its third year, it has become one of the premier gaming events in the world!
Thousands of players have competed in regional tournaments in the United States, Europe, and Japan in an attempt to qualify for the World Championships. The top players in regional competitions around the United States earned places to face off at the National Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana. The top 32 finishers from that event make up the North American participants at the World Championships. 32 players from the European competitions in England, Germany, France, and Spain will earn invitations. Also attending will be 16 players from the Japanese national tournament. Finally, the field will be rounded out by the 16 players earning an invitation from the Last Chance Qualifier. That’s a grand total of 96 players vying for the title of World Champion!
